The Right Attitude For Long Term And Consistent Weight
Loss
by Cindy Burgenstein
If you take a look around next time you are out shopping or hanging out at your local coffee shop, you'll see
evidence of one of the fastest growing problems in western society. Most people today are overweight. Even in
countries long thought to bastion of skinny people, there are growing problems with weight. In order to understand
how to overcome this, we must understand it's origins.
Compared to even a few years ago, we have it pretty easy. Because of technological advances, we don't need to
work nearly as hard as people before us. Most us can earn a decent living without breaking a sweat. So problem
number one is that in our daily lives, we aren't getting enough physical activity.
When we consider the food we eat, you'd be hard pressed to find something that isn't completely processed and
filled with preservatives and chemicals. This is because most food today is produced and shipped very long
distances, so it must be kept fresh as long as possible. Unfortunately, that doesn't make it very healthy for the
end user.
The harsh truth is that this will only get worse as we get more technologically advanced. In order to lose
weight and keep it off, we must make a conscious choice to do so. And the two things we absolutely must do, in some
measure, is to eat healthier, and to figure out a way to increase our physical activity.
Of course, this doesn't mean giving up everything except oatmeal, and spending hours on the treadmill every
night. All it means is to cut down just a little bit on the junk food, and add in just a little bit of extra
physical activity. The goal is long term health, and weight loss.
As you start to realize that the best strategy is to make slow, gradual changes, you will quickly be on the fast
track to solid, consistent weight loss and a healthy lifestyle.
